Dialysis is done when the kidneys lose their function of ultrafiltration.
- The kidneys are the primary excretory organs for all nitrogenous wastes in the human body. All these wastes are removed from the body in the form of urine.
- The seminiferous tubules are the structural and functional unit of the kidneys where ultrafiltration of blood takes place. The liquid remaining after filtration of blood is urine.
- When the blood cannot be filtered due to various reasons, there is build-up of wastes in the body which can be fatal. This is when the ultrafiltration is done artificially outside the body by the process of dialysis.
