A pet or companion animal is an animal kept primarily for a person's company, protection, entertainment, or as an act of compassion such as taking in and protecting a hungry stray cat, rather than as a working animal, livestock, or laboratory animal. Popular pets are often noted for their attractive appearances, intelligence, and relatable personalities, or may just be accepted as they are because they need a home.

Dear Diary,
Thank you so much, dad! You are the best dad in the world. My dad has gifted me a pair of pigeons today. They are very dear to me. I take care of them whole-heartedly. I have arranged a spacious cage for them and kept it in a shady and airy place. I have placed the water and grain pots in the cage. I keep on refilling the pots on being emptied. I have purchased ample grains for them. I, also, keep on cleaning their cage intermittently.
