Why did Akbar want to be friend the Rajput. What steps did he take to achieve this.

Akbar wanted to be friends with the rajputs as they were very strong and he could not expand his kingdom by being in their wrong books.He took the following steps to gain their trust:-

1 He made a matrimonial alliance by marrying harkha/jodha bai,a rajput princess

2He employed many rajput advisors in his court,for egg birbal,todar mal,man singh,etc

He did not humiliate the deflated rajput kings,and even gave them back their kingdoms in exchange for their loyalty
