Answer:

In Venice, a merchant named Antonio worries that his ships are overdue. As his colleagues offer comfort, his young friends—Bassanio, Graziano, and Lorenzo—arrive. Bassanio asks Antonio for a loan, so that he can pursue the wealthy Portia, who lives in Belmont. Antonio cannot afford the loan. Instead, he sends Bassanio to borrow the money on the security of Antonio's expected shipments.

Answer:

Yes, shylock helped Antonio and bassanio. when Antonio and bassanio went to shylock to ask for money, they talked for a bit and agreed to a conclusion that if Antonio wasn't able to repay bassanio's 3000 ducats debt within 3 months then Antonio has to give Shylock a Pound of his flesh from which ever part of his body that shylock likes. Bassanio was trying to stop Antonio but Antonio trusted Bassanio and agreed with the deal
