 Kyoto protocol is the first initiative set by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and this was mutually signed by all countries in a major meeting convened in 1992 popularly known as the Earth Summit. It has drastically reduced the efforts made to reduce the emission of green house gases.

In India, an Environment Improvement Trust (EIT) has been set up to work in saving the environment and creating awareness on this subject amongst the general public.
