The Nationalist Movements in India were actually organized mass movements concerning the interests of the people of India so people themselves were encouraged to take action. But they failed to win Independence for India as they concluded in advance before they were suppose to although they did promote a sense of nationalism among the people of the country. This middle class and its varied political leaderships were part of the evergrowing "Indian" identity".

Answer:

  • Thus it is quite clear that the National movement in India did not span all sections of the society, and in fact met with resistance or hostility from many sections.
