Yes there is one very big one…. that there is no stressed focus on the %age of people who are actually voting….

There should be a formal system whereby all those people who are eligible to vote should be made to vote.. following steps can be taken for guidelines:

  • Voting is necessary… if u dont like any candidate at all then u can simply vote for a Null vote/ cartoon character (some countries have this option).. this will give out a true picture of the elections

  • For all those persons who are eligible to vote and haven’t voted there will be one strike against his electronic Voter id card… Three strikes means a person has to be punished in the form of charity work, community service or any other punishment which contributes to betterment of society

  • For all persons who weren’t able to vote cause of genuine reasons they can give their valid reasons along with proof online and the strike against their e voting card will be removed if the reason is valid and acceptable

if the above system can be formed and followed, most of the other evils which are present around the elections in our country would cease to exist cause the people of India will be well informed then..

Since in India, there are multiple parties and some independent candidates too, who compete for the same seat, it is often the case that a majority of the votes are distributed amongst different parties or candidates and finally the one which gets highest amongst them is declared the winner. This may mean that the winning party or candidate may not have won the votes of the majority.

In this system, there is a huge possibility that the voices of the minority section is left unheard, thus reducing the very essence of a true democracy.

Hope it helps
