Diego Armando Maradona Franco was an Argentine professional football player, after his retirement in football he worked as a manager in the Argentina national team. He was considered as one of the great players of all time and under his captaincy the Argentina team won the World Cup in 1986. He announced his retirement in 2007 in the eve of his birthday.

Maradona’s parents were Diego Maradona Senior and Dalma Salvadora Franco. He born in a poor family, his father worked as a constructor and his mother was a home maker. In his 3rd age he received his first soccer ball as a gift, he used to sleep with the ball to avoid get stolen by others. Later he had a great passion for the game. From his childhood he was good in Football and at the age of 8 he participated in the Las Cebollitas boy’s team. This boy’s team won 136 games continuously and also they won national championship. At his age 14 he was moved to Argentine juniors and in 1976 he made his first division debut.

In 1978 he was relieved from the world cup winning squad and in 1979 he participated in the junior world cup championships. In 1982 he played for FC Barcelona and his team won the title in 1987 and 1990. Later in 1994 World Cup he got caught for consuming doping and he was suspended for 15 months from the game. With the Argentina national team he participated in World Cup in the years 1982, 1986, 1990 and 1994. In the World Cup history he scored a ball using hands and he was famously known for that shot and called as “The Hands of the God”.  

In his total 21 years of football profession he played 490 official club games and scored 259 goals. He played 91 games for Argentina and scored 34 goals and he was named as the top player of the 20th century by FIFA. In 2008 he worked as the Head coach of the Argentina team but his contract completed during the quarterfinals of the 2010 World Cup. Till the year 2018 he worked in many other clubs.

In 2000 he nearly went to death by consuming cocaine and he met heart failure. He was addicted to alcohol, overeating, and consuming drugs and all these addictions affect both his health and performance. Later in this year 2020 he took a surgery in his brain for blood clotting and took rest in his house. In 25th November 2020 he was dead because of heart attack.
