difference b/w distance and displacement

distance is the scalar quantity.i.e.it has magnitude only whereas displacement is a vector quantity.i.e.it has magnitude as well as direction.

1)Distance is the amount of body displaced
1)where as displacement is amount of body displaced frm its initial position

2) distance cannot be negative
2) displacement can be negative

3) distance is Scalar quantity
3) displacement is a vector quantity
