(1) Saturated hydrocarbons
- hydrocarbons having single bonds between carbon atoms are called saturated hydrocarbons.
- Gives a clean flame on burning.
(2) Unsaturated Hydrocarbons
- hydrocarbons having one or more multiple bonds between carbon atoms are called unsaturated hydrocarbons.
- they give yellow flame with a lot of black smoke on burning.
