Difference between absorption and extinction spectra

Do you mean absorption and excretion?
If so, then here is your answer:

Absorption : The process of absorbing nutrients and manerals from digested food is called absorption. It is done by fingerlike projections in small intestine called villi.

Excretion : The process of removing harmful waste and undigested food is called excretion. The undigested food does down from large intestine and removed away through anus.

Hope it will help you.

There should not be any difference in experiment, because the extinction is something you have to calculate by measuring the transmittance/absorbance of a given frequency.

The transmittance TT of a material is the ratio between the received intensity of a certain frequency to the transmitted intensity of the same frequency.

T=I/I0T=I/I0

The absorbance AA is defined as the decadic logarithm of the inverse transmittance.

A=log10(I0/I)=log10(1/T)A=log10⁡(I0/I)=log10⁡(1/T)

By using Beer-Lambert’s law

I=I0e−ε c dI=I0e−ε c d

one can calculate the extinction εε from the measured transmittance/absorbance by

ε=Ac dε=Ac d

where cc is the concentration of the absorbing material and dd is the distance that the light has to travel in that given material.
