- Point 1 : The acidity of bases is the number of hydroxyl ions which can be produced per molecule of the base in aqueous solution. Whereas , Basicity of acid is the basicity of an acid is defined as the number of hydronium ions that can be produced by the ionization of one molecule of that acid in aqueous solution.
- Point 2 : Another key difference between acidity and basicity is that acidity causes a low pH whereas basicity causes a high pH in an aqueous medium.
- Point 3 ; Example of acidity of bases : Potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide each has one replaceable hydroxyl group , hence its acidity is one and we call it mono acidic. Example of basicity of acid : Acetic acid is monobasic in nature as it can lose one proton or hydrogen atom to form acetate ion.
