NP is issued to any goods carrier by the State Transport Authority whereas AIP can be categorized into permitfor taxis, buses, trucks and other good carriers. So next time when you see any goods vehicle written eiher with AIP or NP, dont get confused.

National Permit:

Valid for 5 years and renewable. Authorisation in Form 47 is required for use of the vehicle in any state subject to payment of composite fees.
All India Tourist Vehicle Permit:
