Before delving into the difference between articulated and non articulated laticifers, we must know about laticifers. hence, a laticifer is a form of extended secretory cell that can be found in leaves and/or stems of plants.

It produces rubber and latex as secondary metabolites.

It may be further divided into two types.

(1) Articulated laticifers - These are made up of a series of cells that are joined together.

(2) Non-articulated laticifers - These are made up of a single long coenocytic cell.

These types of laticifers start the growth process from the meristematic tissue of the embryo. It is known as the laticifer initial and can display continual growth throughout a plant life.

Laticifer tubes usually have a larger inner diameter than the surrounding parenchyma cells and an irregular edged wall.
