- Ascertained goods:
Ascertained goods are also termed as specific goods. Goods that individually recognized and accept at the time of the making of the contract of the sale are called ascertained goods.
Example:
Where X agreed to sell Y a particular radio bearing a different number there is a contract of sale of specific or ascertained goods.
- Unascertained goods:
The goods which are not individually recognized or discovered at the time agreement of contract of the sale are called as unascertained goods.
Example:
Where X agrees to sell Y one bag of wheat out of the hundreds of bags placed in his/her godown which is the sale of unascertained goods because it is not known which bag is to be delivered.
