Bhangar is the old alluvium deposit found in northern plains. It is present in the form of a terrace like feature. The soil in this region consists of calcareous deposits known as kankar. On the other hand, Bhabhar is a narrow belt covered with pebbles lying along the foot of Shiwaliks from the Indus to Tista.
