Physical environment refers to the inanimate things like air, water, soil, rock, etc. the biological environment is all living things big and small, plant or animal, and microbes etc.

There are two types of classifications about things/objects when we are talking about environment i.e. inanimate and animate.

Inanimate objects are those that are non living ex- water, soil, air, rocks. This is what forms the physical part and hence physical environment or physical geography.

Animate objects are those that are living ex- us humans, animals, plants. This is what forms the biological part and hence biological environment or ecology.
