Bryophytes:

  • Bryophytes are non-vascular plants.
  • The plant body is leafy or thalloid.
  • No vascular tissues.
  • Rhizoids are present for anchorage.
  • The gametophyte is dominating.
  • Anthredium is stalked.
  • Cells are haploid.
  • Ex- Mosses, liverworts, hornworts, etc.

Pteridophytes:

  • Pteridophytes are vascular plants.
  • The plant body is differentiated into roots, stem and leaves.
  • Vascular tissues are present.
  • Roots are present for anchoring.
  • The sporophyte is dominating.
  • Anthredium is sessile.
  • Cells are diploid.
  • Ex: Spikemosses, ferns, clubmosses, etc.
