the difference bewteen burning pure propane and a mixture of hydrocarbons that are in wax. in most cases, this is parafin, depending upon the type of candle. there is also bees wax, soy wax, tallow, etc.
in a bunsen burner, one can regulate the amount of oxygen getting to the flame. in doing so, we can make the flame of a bunsen burner turn blue to almost clear, this is the hottest flame. burning parafin is incomplete combustion in that it produces C (soot) and CO. the flame is also yellow, a colder version of a flame
