the basic difference between CARBONIUM ion and CARBOCATION are as :-
●A carbenium ion is a carbocation of the trivalent and classical type R3C+.
●The carbonium ion, methanium (protonated methane, with the formula CH5+.
[as both are positively charged species they are known as carbocations.]
●carbonium ion has 8 e- in outermost orbit ●carbenium ion has 6 e- in outer orbit with empty p orbital.
