in centrifugal pump the water is reached to impellar ( a wheel with curved blade fitted at the centre) tgrough suction pipe and the water rotates in with impellar thus gain some torque with the hepl of which it reaches to some more height. Thus the process continues & water is transferred from a low level to a height.

RECIPROCATING PUMP

this are of 3 types

1) plunger
2) diaphragm
3) piston

in this type of pump water is forced to gain height by the to and fro motion if the piston

Difference between centrifugal pump and reciprocating pump. ... Both centrifugal and reciprocating pumps are most common type ofpumps used to move fluid and increase its pressure. Centrifugal pump which is also known as rotary pump used kinetic energy of impeller to force the fluid and increase its kinetic energy.
