The differences are as follows:

1. Chlamydomonas are single celled green algae whereas Spirogyra are multi-cellular green algae.

2. Chlamydomonas are found mainly in stagnant and damp soil whereas Spirogyra are found in freshwater habitats.

3. Chlamydomonas use their flagellas( a pair of flagella at one end) for their movement whereas Spirogyra use their end to end connected cellular chains or filaments for their movement.

4. Chloroplasts are cup-shaped in case of Chlamydomonas whereas Spirogyra possess spiral chloroplasts.

5. Chlamydomonas follow both sexual and asexual type of reproduction whereas Spirogyra follow only sexual reproduction(conjugation).
