Aarenchyma is a spongy or soft plant tissue with large air spaces found between the cells of the stem and leaves of aquatic plants which allows the exchange of gases
it also provide buoyancy so that plants can easily float on water

collenchyma
the cells of this tissue are living
there is an uneven thickening of cell wall
they are usually absent in monocots
they give mechanical support
they carry out photosynthesis if chloroplast are present
