Lens is a transparent medium bounded by two surfaces, atleast one of which is curved.

Lens are of two types:

1-Convex or convergent lens

-A lens which is thicker at the centre and thinner at its ends is called convex lens.

Convex lens are of three types:
1-Double convex lens
2-Plano-convex lens
3-Concavo-Convex lens

It is also known as converging lens because it converges a parallel beam of light rays passing through it.

4-Concave or diverging lens

-A lens which is thinner at the centre and thicker at its end is called concave lens.

Concave lensed are of three types
1-Double concave lens
2-Plano-concave lens
3-Convexo-concave lens

A concave lens is also known as diverging lens because it diverges a parallel beam of light rays passing through it.

hey there,

CONCAVE LENS:-

1) concave lens is thinner in the middle and thicker at the edges.

2) it is also called diverging lens.

3) image formed is virtual and smaller than the object.

4) it is used for the correction of problem of short sight.

5) it's focal length is always negative.

CONVEX LENS:-

1) convex lens is thicker in the middle and thinner at the edges.

2) it is aso called converging lens.

3) image formed is real and inverted.

4) used for the correction of problem of long sight.

5) it's focal length is always positive.

hope it helps ^-^
