Crop rotation refers to practice of planting crops every season on agricultural land. This promotes the fertility of the land and adds nutrients to the soil for increased production capacity. Multi cropping refers to planting two or more types of crops on the same land at the same time.

1. Crop rotation is a practice of growing different types of crops in sequenced seasons whereas fallowing is when land is ploughed but it is left uncultivated for a season or more.

2. Crop rotation helps in increasing soil fertility, reducing soil erosion, increases crop yield etc. whereas advantages of fallowing are that it raises level of nitrogen,carbon etc in the soil, it improves moisture Holding capacity of the soil and also it increases the no. of beneficial microbes in the soil.

3. Disadvantages of crop rotation are : It requires more machinery, requires more knowledge and skills etc . whereas disadvantages of fallowing are : it is effective only when the summer is dry,

it leads to soil erosion because the land is left bare, it leads to no production throughout the year etc.
