Difference between differentiating electron and valence electron

Core electrons are the rest of the electrons in an atom which are not valence electrons. Core electrons do not act in bond formation. They are placed in inner shells of an atom. For example, as in Oxygen, six electrons out of all eight are valence electrons, whereas two are core electrons.


Valence electrons are participating in the chemical bond formation.Valence electrons are residing in the outer most shells.
