Distance= total length of path through which body moons is called distance
displacement=shortest distance from the initial to final position of the body is the magnitude of displacement and its direction is from the initial position to the final position.

Distance is longest path covered by the body

Displacement is the shortest path covered by the body

rate of change of distance is speed (distance/time)

rate of change of displacement is known as velocity.(displacement /time)
