District Court means the highest court in a District and for every district, there is only one district court. while in a district, there are many trial courts… a civil suit is tried by civil judge junior division, civil judge senior division , (also by Additional District judge Court which is lower in rank than the District Judge in case offence is punishable for more than 7 yrs). In case of criminal matters, there are court of judicial magistrates, Additional District judge( it is both civil and criminal triable court), metropolitan magistrate, and some civil judge senior division courts also can act as Assistant Sessions judge in case of criminal matters.

2• District judge and Additional District Judge can pass sentence from 10 yrs to life imprisonment and fine. Trial courts can pass sentence upto 7 yrs in case of criminal matters.

3. District court is a court of both revision and trial and as well as of appeal. Matrimonial Suits can only be tried by district courts again a civil or criminal revision can also lie before it. Moreover, its also a court of appeal.

4. In district court when it acts as appellate court, evidence cannot be given afresh. What was decided by the trial court is adjudicated again basing on the memorandum of Appeal. While a in a trial court, issues are framed and evidence is given both oral and documentary to prove a case.

Actually there are no straightjacket formula to differentiate a district court and a trial court. According to rules framed by state govts. Courts hear the matters. If in a state, suppose a civil judge senior division can hear both civil and criminal matters then in another state, it is not so. But the power of giving punishment by district judge and judicial magistrates are done as per Code of Criminal Procedure…if you want to know about these matters, you can buy a CrPC Handbook where you can find the actual differences
Revenu cort
Revenue courts are courts which handle the revenue matters of state. Every state is assumed to be the owner of all the land that geographically falls in the boundary of that state, therefore, state is entitled to charge a rent or tax on use of that, irrespective of whether is freehold in the name of the owner or leased. Land Rent or Land Revenue is fixed by the State depending on the nature of the land, irrigated or non-irrigated, etc. Revenue court deal with matters such as non-payment of land revenue, land ceilings, tenancy laws, agriculturists and peasants disputes, etc.
