The major difference between the west and the east flowing rivers is that the West flowing rivers form deltas whereas the east flowing like the narmada, the tapti etc don't form deltas but form estuaries. The reason is that these rivers pass through rift Vallies, when these fast flowing rivers reach the mouth of the river they fail to deposit silt. Hope that this will help you..

The Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri are east flowing rivers.
The rivers flowing westward on the peninsular plateau are generally small but rivers Narmada and Tapi are exceptions to this.
These rivers do not form deltas.
The Narmada and Tapi are west flowing rivers.
