Endothelium refers to the inner lining of blood vessels and lymphatics, composed of flat endothelial cells that "tile" the inside of the cardiovascular system from the smallest capillaries to the heart itself. As living tissue, however, endothelium also performs physiologic functions unique to its own tissue type, mainly involving cardiovascular regulation.

Mesothelium forms a protective covering around many vital organs. Mesothelium is associated with internal body cavities, not blood and lymph.

Epithelium refers to a more general class of cells that are found throughout the body in various linings of hollow organs, glands, skin, digestive system and more.
