ethylene is also called ethene.
ethylene is an alkene containing double bond.
it can be prepared by dehydration of ethanol and Dehydrohalogenation of alkyl halide CH3CH2CL
acetylene is also called ethyne.
acetylene is an alkyne containg triple bond.
it can be prepared by dehydrohalogenation of vicinal dihalide CH3CHCL2. and dehalogenation of tetra halide CHCHCl2(occur in two steps).
