Aquatic plants are plants that have adapted to living in aquatic environments be it saltwater or freshwater. A macrophyte is a category of aquatic plant that grows in or near water and is either submerged or floating.

The Difference Between Floating And Submerged Plants Are:-

  • Floating plants have leaves that float on the water's surface whereas, Submerged plants have leaves that grow entirely underwater.

  • A floating plant's roots may be attached to the substrate or float in the water column whereas, Submerged plant's roots are rooted to the bottom underwater.

  • A floating plant's growth has a lower depth whereas, Submerged plant's growth has a deeper depth than floating plants.
