The Saraswat Brahmins, whose erudition was called as Saraswata, are a group of Hindu Brahmins whose ancestry can be traced to the banks of river Sarasvati that was supposedly known to originate from the Himalayan range.
The Saraswat Brahmins are considered to be one of the 5 “Panch Gauda” Brahmin communities who are known to be residing in the northern range of the Vindhyas.
