Gear shaping and hobbing
Explanation:
Gear shaping is when a power tool is used to cut the individual teeth to manufacture the gear. The teeth are cut using a bridge port or boring mill and the gear is used for a unique purpose and can be of unusual type. The accuracy of this process is good but the process is time consuming.
Gear hobbing is a process in which the teeth of the gear is cut simultaneously using a milling machine. The accuracy is okay and the process time is much less, hence suitable for mass production.
