PQWL or Pooled Quota Waiting List is the category which is allotted to people who board/start there journey in a train from an in-between station rather than directly starting it from Origin station.
For eg. The AP express starts from New Delhi to Secunderabad.There may be certain passengers who wish to go from Nagpur or Gwalior to Secunderabad.
General wait list means that current status of your ticket is CONFIRMED because some passengers who booked before you have cancelled their tickets. This status also gives some insight into the current ticket cancellation trends for this journey.
