difference between gram positive and gram negative bacteria

.Gram positive bacteria will stain purple because of their thick peptidoglycan cell wall. Gram negative bacteria will stain red because the thin peptidoglycan layer is surrounded by the plasma membrane and thus will not stain with crystal violet.
