GREY MATTER :
- It is composed of cell bodies and dendrites of neurons.
- Occur on the surface of the brain like the cortex and in the deeper part as nuclei
- comprise 40% of the brain.

- conduct, process, and sends information to various parts of the body.

- it appears darker in color

WHITE MATTER
- composed of myelinated axons of the nerve cells
- occur as pathways in the brain and spinal cord
- comprise 60% of brain
- Develop throughout the 20s and peaks in the middle age
- interpret various sensory information from the body
- pathways, tracts, fascicles, medial and spinal lemniscus, and bundles
- it appears lighter or pale in color
- axons mostly myelinated
