for example, if you own 5 hectare land and you have a well with motor pump, then you gave irrigation in one season for 5hectare land , it is called net irrigated area. if you irrigate the same land in another season for 5 ha , you gross irrigated becomes 10hectare, but your net irrigated area remains 5hectare only

Gross Cropped Area (GCA) is the total area sown once as well as more than once in a particular year. When the crop is sown on a piece of land for twice, the area is counted twice in GCA. On the other hand, Net Sown Area is the area sown with crops but is counted only once.✌️
