Heredity- 1) Heredity is the mechanism which transmits the characters resembles as well as the difference to the offspring from the parents.
2) it has no influence and evolution
Variation - 1) It represents the visible difference shown by individuals within the offspring and species.
2) leads to evolution by introducing new phenotypic characters to the species.

1) It is responsible for the diversity of the organisms.
It brings minor differences among members of the population.
2) Variation during reproduction helps to bring new characters in the offspring which are absent in parents.
Like :- Colour of eyes, hairs etc.
