Potassium permanganate (KMnO4) is a salt of permanganic acid (HMnO4) and the manganate (K2MnO4) is that of manganic acid(H2MnO4). In the manganate salt, the oxidation state of manganese is VI and in the permanganate it is VII. ... Potassium permanganate forms dark purple crystals.

AdishaDeo: And K²MnO⁴ 's colour?
MharomoEzung: yeah?
