Kerberos is a web-based software which is used for providing authentication to user identities and user requests. Kerberos v4 and Kerberos v5 are updates of the Kerberos software.


Kerberos Version 4

1. It was released in the late 1980s.

2. It uses the principal name partially.

3. It uses the 'receiver-makes-right' encoding system.

4. It contains only a few IP addresses.

5. No transitive cross-realm authentication support.


Kerberos Version 5

1. It was published in 1993.

2. It uses the entire principal name.

3. It uses the ASN. 1 coding system.

4. Contains multiple IP addresses.

5. Reasonable support is available for transitive cross-realm authentication.

Kerberos is actually a computer network authentication protocol which have different versions Kerbose verson4 and 5 are also the updates.which have following  difference

Kerberos Version 4

This version actually have few IP addresses and was released back in the year of 1980. The version of Kerores make use of the encoding system which was receiver makes right system.

Kerberos version 5:

This version was different because it uses the multiple IP addresses for the sytem and the coding system used by this was different one . This version was actually used the whole principle name and   was comes to market in the year 1993.
