I m not textile technologist, however cotton wool is plant based, grown by cotton crops, then processed to make threads and wowen to make clothes. That is flexible to any machine or rough wash.

Machine washable wool is synthetic, from polyester, poly vinyl varieties. They are non biodegradable in environment. Petroleum based.

Some are in between, some blends of cotton and synthetic wool like 40:60, 30:70 mixed to make teri cotton fiber. Generally used in almost fabrics.

Some dry cleaning, are silk, that is obtained from silk worms, natural and holy. Silk is famous in India and China, for millions of years old. Those silk threads woven to make silk fabrics, needs special attention. It won't burn if it is pure.

Others from lamb and similar kind animals fibers, rabbits, which ever grow much fibers. Some special breads grown in A/c environment to grow fiber. They also need special attention.

Some are plant flower based fibres, Pashmina is costliest fibre in the world may be, from Kashmir, the fabric made from these are rich.

Others are blend of gold and silver on cotton thread. They are offered to God, only for holy purpose.

Jute and sisal are highl strength fibers, bags and ship drawing ropes are made with sisal fibres. Even 15 cm thick ropes made in Europe and Madagascar, Africa.

Remaining is lead or glass fibres used in various applications like bullet proof, optical fibers etc
