Kawaii is an adjective.

On a sidenote, while for japanese people any animation is refered as “anime” (Frozen, Spongebob, Micky Mouse, etc…), because that is the meaning of the word (animation), outside of Japan, “anime” is almost exclusively used to talk about japanese animations, as the average combination of elements of japanese animation set them apart from western cartoons in many ways, although some people might be willing to debate if “anime” should also include some non-japanese cartoons that have similar styles like Avatar Last Airbender, Avatar Legends of Korra and RWBY
