Difference between mass transfer and diffusion

There is no difference between the two terms. Mass transfer is general term and diffusion is a part of this.
Let's make it clear. Total Mass transfer happens by contribution of two methods: one is by diffusion which is intermolecular phenomenon, where mass transfer happens due to relative activity of each molecule. The other is by convective Maas transfer which is a bulk phenomenon, where mas transfer happens by bulk motion of phase.
For e.g - let's assume a river with fishes. Now the Mass transfer of fishes are happening by two way, I.e one by flow of river ,which is convective motion and other by their own motion which is similar to diffusion.
Hope it helps you.
