While mechanical waves are caused by wave amplitude and not by frequency, electromagnetic waves are produced by the vibration of the charged particles. In transverse waves, the medium moves perpendicular to the wave direction, and in longitudinal waves, the medium moves parallel to the wave direction.

Mechanical wave is a wave that is an oscillation of matter and therefor transfer energy through a medium
Transverse wave is a wave that consists of oscillation occurring perpendicular to the direction of energy transfer
