Metals

the element that conduct electricity and are malleable and ductile. metals are shiny ,hard strong, heavy and sonorous.

some examples of metal are:

iron, aluminium ,copper ,silver gold, platinum, zinc ,tin, lead ,Mercury.

metals are the element which form positive ions by losing electrons.that's why metals are known as electropositive elements because they can form positive ions by losing electrons

metals are very important for the national economy of every country.

properties of metals

  • metals are malleable
  • metals are good conductor of heat
  • metals are ductile
  • good conductor of heat and electricity.
  • metals are lustrous ( shiny)
  • metals are generally hard (except sodium and potassium which are soft metals).
  • metals are solid at room temperature( except Mercury which is the liquid metal)
  • metals are sonorous.

Non metals

non metals are the element that do not conduct heat and electricity and other anyone not ductile .they are brittle.non metals are not lustrous .non metals are generally soft and not strong .

some examples of non metals:

carbon, sulphur, Phosphorus, silicon, hydrogen ,oxygen, nitrogen ,chlorine, bromine ,iodine ,helium, neon and argon.

diamond and graphite are also non- metals.

non metals are the element which form negative ions by gaining electrons .that's why non metals are known as electronegative elements of physical form negative ions by gaining electrons.non-metals are small in number as compared to metals but they play a very important role in our daily life.

properties of non metals

  • non metals are neither malleable not ductile. non metals are brittle.
  • non metals do not conduct heat and electricity
  • non metals are not lustrous
  • non metals are generally soft (except diamond which is in extremely)
  • non metals are not strong their easily broken
  • non metals have many different colours. example sulphur is yellow, Phosphorus is white or red etc
  • non metals may be solid ,liquid or gasses at room temperature. for example: bromine is a liquid non metal ,whereas hydrogen oxygen, chlorine ,and nitrogen are gaseous non metals. carbon ,Sulphur and phosphorus are solid non-metals

i hope my answer help you.

otherwise report it.

miss you❤️to much .....

❤.METALS:

Metals are usually solids at room temperature (except Hg).

Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity.

Metals have high M.P and B.P

Generally these are electropositive.

These forms more ionic compounds.

❤.NON - METALS:

Non - metals are usually solids (or) gases at room temperature.

Non - Metals are poor conductors of heat and electricity.

Non - Metals have low M.p and B.p

Generally these are electronegative.

These forms more covalent compounds.
