Difference between micelles and colloidal particles.
Micelles:
- The aggregation of a large number of ions which is formed in a concentrated solution is called micelles.
- It is a type of colloid which is classified based on the type of particles of the dispersed phase.
- It is also called as associated colloid and has high molecular masses. A compound such as soap sol is a well-known example of this category.
Colloidal particles:
- The particles which are present in the colloids are called a colloidal particle.
- It is classified into many types based upon physical state, nature of interaction and type of particles.
- It is small in size and has a high surface area. A compound such as solid sol, foam, etc has colloidal particles.
