Animals domesticated for their milk and are rich in the production of milk are termed to be milch animals. In India, the primary milch animals arecows and buffaloes. Milk is also obtained in small quantities from goats, sheep and camels.
The latter types of animals are called draft animals (draught animals) or beasts of burden. Most workinganimals are either service animals or draft animals. They may also be used for milking or herding, jobs that require human training to encourage theanimal to cooperate.
