1)mitosis is equational division. of cell and meiosis is reductional division.
2)In mitosis prophase is short and in meiosis it is long.
3)meiosis results in gamete formation only but mitosis is not.

Metosis-when a cell divides by mitosis it splits into two cell each having same number of chromosomes as in the parent cell.

Meosis- when a cell divides by meosis- it divides four cells each having exactly half the number of chromosomes as in the parent cell
