When sperm 1 and 4 fertilise it os monospermy
And when 2 and 3 fertilise it is polyspermy
The terms Monospermy and Polyspermy are used to describe fertilization of an egg by the sperm.
The fertilization of an egg by the entry of a single sperm into the egg is called Monospermy. Polyspermy is the term used, when more than one sperm enters an egg and causes fertilization. Cells which are formed as a result of Monospermy contain two copies of each chromosome, from each parent. Cells formed as a result of Polyspermy have three or more copies of each chromosome – one from the egg and one each from the number of sperms that fertilized the egg.
